Entry 13: Music Makes the World Go Round

We all love music, especially kids.

My daughter loved it when we played the Mama Mia CD when she was about 6 months old.

What albums/songs do your children like, or did you like as a child?
Also what songs remind you of children and your relationship with them?

We bought several nursery rhyme CDs for long rides once Diana was about 2.  One really made us laugh because it censored Three Blind Mice (no carving knives in this version) but had a hearty rendition of Hot Cross Buns that was so inappropriate, it was uncomfortable.  We needed a shower every time we heard it.

  2. We just listened to whatever was on my ipod - which spans a real global variety. She has a real penchant for Michael Jackson when she was a baby and thanks to mom, now is a real fan of Bruno Mars, knows all the words! If lullabies are what you want, then try www.rockabyebabymusic.com. There are other too but they turn rock and classic rock songs into lullabies so parents like them too!

Also, Kristin and Dad had her made a personalized music cd with her name on it and that was a BIG hit.

  3. Yay. These are good!

Also, we are fans of Rockabye Baby Lullabies. They take pop music and turn them into lullabies. Very fun.

    Love you guys!

  4. The They Might Be Giants CDs for kids are awesome.
"Not for kids only" by Grisman and Garcia
Saturday Morning Cartoons CD (though that might have some not-for-kids lyrics)
SchoolHouse Rock (Three is the Magic Number by Blind Melon)
    Philadelphia Chickens

I agree that regular non-kids music can be great too - Queen, Beatles, Dylan, Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews... the list goes on...

  5. Landon loved the two videos and DVD's from the Gigglebellies - I love the colors and the songs. He also loves all the traditional wheels on the bus, happy and you know it, ect... His favorite is still Jingle Bells and it is February - Jenn

  6. My sister's kids loved the Laurie Bertner Band. The songs are cute but not too saccharin-y so adults couldn't enjoy it.
