Entry 3: Let's Eat!

We all know what makes a great party. The food!

Since this is a potluck shower, please tell us what you brought!  Feel free to post the recipe too.

I brought this delicious punch.  I used pink lemonade for a baby shower for a girl once.  I used yellow lemonade this time.   For a large group of people (30+) I think I tripled the recipe and had just enough. I froze the lemon and orange slices and used that as "ice."

Ingredients:
2 lemons
3 large oranges
1 can frozen lemonade
concentrate
1 liter club soda
2 (750 milliliter) bottles sparkling apple
cider
1 tablespoon white sugar
2 trays ice cubes
Directions:
1.Thinly slice the lemons and the oranges and place in a large punch bowl. Pour in the thawed lemonade. Gently stir in the club soda and the sparkling apple cider. Add sugar to taste. Add ice.

Entry 2: Setting the Scene

Welcome to the party ladies.  I have selected this beach house over-looking the ocean to host this party.  It's a beautiful warm day with a gentle breeze.  I hope you don't mind, I've got the sliding glass doors open so we can hear the waves crashing and the birds tweeting.   I just got up from a nap, so please excuse me, I'm running a little behind schedule.

I've got some easy listening music playing in the background with a bit of tropical flavor.  Feel free to change the station if you want.

Meagan's Mom and sisters decorated the room. Isn't it lovely?  The blue, green and yellow balloons are tied to the patio railing and in all 4 corners of the room.    I especially like the "It's a Boy" mylar balloons on the cake and punch table.  Each has a different animal on it.  The blue and brown tissue paper pom poms hanging from the ceiling are super cute. I bet Meag can use those in the nursery!

Ryan's sisters put together the lovely centerpieces for the tables. The yellow roses are beautiful. There will be a chance for you to take one of the six home by answering questions during the shower.

Check out the cake! Looks delicious! Gwen made it!

Meagan should be here soon.  In the meantime, please grab a drink and some appetizers and talk to the other guests! If you brought your children with you.... there is a babysitter right over there!  Yes... that is Minnie Mouse... and yes, she is babysitting our kids for free!

Oh and before you go, don't forget to grab a yummy favor. Kristin Pfeltz made these for everyone!Yum!  They are calorie-free just like the cake!

Entry 1: Welcome to Meagan's Baby Shower

CONGRATULATIONS MEAGAN & RYAN!

Hello All!
It's great to "see" you again, especially for such a wonderful reason!  Everyone loves babies right?? Please let me introduce myself.... My name is Kristin and I will be the hostess for this exciting event however, I am relying on all of you to participate in this event by leaving comments for Meagan!

This is my first Virtual Shower... I make no promises but as you know Meagan and Ryan live in Boston and all of their family and friends are elsewhere.  Geography will not bring us down!  We will prevail and throw the most exciting and fun shower in spite of location challenges.  And if you happen to be bored, at least no one will see you rolling your eyes.  Disclaimer: I have a 3.5 year old and a 3 month old so I'm going to try and be an efficient host because down time is not something I know much about. Please let me know if I'm derelict in my duty at any time!

Here are the ground rules for the shower:
  • I will be posting a new entry or two weekly.
  • If you log in anonymously (permissions have been set very loose on this), please be sure to sign your name in the comment so we know who you are!
  • Meagan will be invited to attend the shower in a few weeks once we launch and get in our groove.
  • If you would like to write a blog entry, please email me and I will post for you! I encourage lots of participation and help!
  • In order for this to be a success, we need you to comment.  Meagan will be looking forward to our advice whether it's serious or funny.   I do not need to approve comments.
  • If you do not have children, you surely have been a child at some point or know other children, so your insight is still very valuable.
  • Let's be as open as possible... Meagan will take or disregard the advice as she chooses, but it will be fun to throw it all at her!
  • I'm hoping only 'invitees' will comment however this is a public website and I didn't set the site up to exclude anyone. If we get a lot of craziness, I may "gate" the site.
  • I have a full-time job and two kids so efficiency will be key, please excuse any typos.
  • Finally, please use your imagination. I have taken creative liberties to 'set the scene.'
OK ladies (and gentleman too if they want to join), please mingle and introduce yourself. So glad you could make it!   And to confirm, Meagan and Ryan are expecting a baby boy on March 27, 2013!
